Middle School Shakespeare Workshop

Spend a week this summer with us learning about the genius of Shakespeare, through reading, acting out, and viewing A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Timon of Athens. In this one-week theater intensive, students will workshop for the first four days at our Black Box Theater (9:00-12:00) and then finish the week with an overnight trip (Thursday and Friday) to the world-renowned Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City.

This is a camp for students entering 5th grade, who have already gained some basic experience with Lego Mindstorms robotics and coding, whether in the Waterford Class IV program or at an outside source.

Printmaking

This class gives students the opportunity to explore basic printmaking techniques. Students will learn a wide variety of monotype techniques using the intaglio press. They will also be introduced to relief printmaking through linoleum cuts, woodcuts, or found objects. Medium and small-scale prints are produced. Taught by our longtime faculty member and former department chair, Colby Brewer.

Fishing Camp

Join our Building Supervisor and outdoor enthusiast Camilo Castillo to master the basics of rod and reel fishing. Spend the first two days on campus, learning about angling safety, how to use the equipment, basic anatomy and the habits of fish. We will then try our new skills first at a local pond, then at a lake, and finally in a mountain stream.

The course covers basics of scuba diving techniques, safety, and equipment use. Participants will learn about pressure, dive tables, respiration and planning. This course emphasizes lifelong fitness and wellness concepts. Participants need to be comfortable in the water and able to stay afloat for ten minutes.
