Join our LS art teacher, Becky Modderman, and her friends at Neptune Divers for an amazing experience getting your SCUBA certification.
The camp is comprised of lectures, pool classes, and five pool training dives at Neptune Divers in Sugarhouse, all the SCUBA gear during pool sessions, and digital certification upon completion of the course. The course covers basics of scuba diving techniques, safety, and equipment use. Participants will learn about pressure, dive tables, respiration and planning. It emphasizes lifelong fitness and wellness concepts. Participants need to be comfortable in the water and able to stay afloat for ten minutes. Also, they need to be at least 12 years old on the day camp starts.
While the lectures, pool classes, and training dives take place during the week of camp, there is more to do to complete one’s SCUBA certification. There are three more times to plan for after the week of camp, and which are included in the price. Two of these are open water dives, which will be scheduled for later in the summer, most likely at Bonneville Seabase. The other is an extra practice session at the pool which you can schedule individually with the teacher, just to make sure you are ready for the open water dives.
We will meet at Waterford at 8:30 am each day of camp and travel by school bus to Neptune Divers. The bus departs at 8:40 sharp! If you would prefer to meet us there, please let the the teacher, Mrs. Becky Modderman know (beckymodderman@waterfordschool.org).
